For the fifth time in six years, the UAH student chapter of the American Meteorological Society has been recognized as one of the top chapters in the country, being named to the AMS Honor Roll for the 2013-’14 chapter year.
“Getting to that level says the chapter is not only doing the basics, but also is engaged in active public outreach, and for us the biggest part of that is Weather Fest,” said Kevin Knupp, the chapter’s faculty advisor.
The fifth annual Rocket City Weather Fest is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015. Past festivals attracted hundreds of visitors to campus to learn more about weather and severe weather preparations. Weather Fest programs include seminars, demonstrations, weather balloon launches and other activities.
The chapter and its 2013-’14 officers — including president Aaron Kaulfus, vice president Tony Lyza, treasurer Sarah Stough, secretary Danielle Kozlowski and webmaster Traci Fehnel — will be honored at the AMS annual meeting Jan. 6, 2015, in Phoenix.
